Why We Used the Amazon Baby Registry

Hey Guys!! It's been awhile since I've blogged, and basically it's because I got caught up in all the excitement of our wedding and then getting pregnant the month after LOL!!! AH!! So sorry for the lapse, BUT I have so so much to share with you all! First off, today's topic, BABY REGISTRIES!!!

If you're anything like me, once you see those two pink lines (or "pregnant" on the digital HPT) then your mind immediately goes into overdrive! AH! We're pregnant!!! I'm going to be a Mommy! How should I tell my husband?! (<--we were trying so it wasn't a big surprise to him and I was too excited to try to come up with anything cute so I ran straight from the bathroom and exploded with tears of happiness) Do I need to call the doctor right this second?! Oh, I wonder what it will be! Wait, when is my due date then?! ***Calculates based on LMP then runs through everything scheduled for the next 9-12 months 😂

All that was just in a matter of 2-3 minutes HA! It's truly such an exciting time in life, and if this is your first baby, then odds are your mind will quickly also wonder over to Baby Registries. 💗

As a first time mom (FTM) I found myself overwhelmed with all the options. Of course the popular ones are Target, Buy Buy Baby, Babies R Us, Amazon, Walmart, and Babylist. Each option has pros and cons and I would suggest you do your own research on each and then to decide which one is best for you and your growing family. (You can of course register at more than one place, but I chose to register on one site only so that I could keep it all organized in one place.)

As you guessed from my blog title, we chose Amazon, so let me first explain why, and then tell you how freaking awesome it's been!! We chose Amazon for a variety of reasons:

1. We live in a very rural area, as do most of our friends and family members, so we order online a lot already and typically have multiple deliveries from Amazon each week.

2. We're obviously already Prime members, again, as are most of our friends and family members, so that gives everyone free shipping when they order from our registry.

**Unless you happen to hit the holidays where free shipping is common, most of the other options do NOT provide free timely shipping, so when gift givers order online they'll have to pay shipping on top of the gift price. PLUS, when you go to register at any one of these stores, you'll find that a good chunk of the items you want are available online only.

3. Amazon has a KILLER completion discount. Now, if you're like me, I had the hardest time trying to understand what all these registries meant when they said "completion discount." Essentially, each registry offers you an option to purchase everything that's left on your registry (aka "completion") within so many days of your due date at a discounted price. Because we are Amazon Prime members, we get a 15% discount on all the items left on our registry that gift givers don't purchase. That was by far the largest discount I found with any of the registries so it was a no brainer for us. We even put large nursery furniture items on there so we could use the discount on them once we were in the allotted purchase time frame. A vast majority of the items we registered for have been purchased from our registry (our shower is in two days, YAY!), but I'm excited about getting the rest at a 15% discount! Holla!

4. Amazon has a massive selection of items! Let's face it, Amazon is king when it comes to online shopping, and they have the largest selection of items, at least with regards to what we wanted for our baby.

5. Amazon let's you add registry items from OTHER STORES! "Babylist" use to be popular back in the day because you could compile items from various different retailers all on one list, but Amazon has bested them. With Amazon's baby registry you can easily add items from any other retailer. For example, I have several from Target on mine.

6. Amazon offers a diaper and wipes gift card! Say WHAT?! Yep, when you register with Amazon you get some pretty neat extra perks. Once items purchased (and shipped) from your registry total $1,000 or higher, then Amazon gives you a $100 gift card to use on diapers and wipes. Who doesn't want $100 worth of free diapers and wipes?! I know some people are like, but I won't have $1,000 worth of items on my registry. Girl...if you're a FTM, even trying to keep it to just the essentials, trust me, you'll have no problem hitting that mark!

7. Last but certainly not least, Amazon offers you a WELCOME BOX! Once you complete your registry with Amazon they send you the cutest welcome box full of all sorts of goodies. I got an adorable muslin swaddle, diapers, wipes, some toys, and so much more! The only caveat is that you have to purchase something of $10 value off your registry (I added the "What To Expect: First Year" book to mine since I knew I would want it anyways and purchased it), and once that item has shipped, then say hello to your welcome box!

Whew! I didn't mean to sit down and write a novel, but I did want to share what I've learned so far!I hope this helped answer some of your questions, hesitations, etc. I have so many other tid bits I'd like to share with you guys regarding pregnancy, so stay tuned for more to come! As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

XOXO!
